A free retirement planner built for Canadians

This is a free, browser-based retirement planning tool for people in Canada. Enter your RRSP, TFSA, non-registered and (optionally) holding-company balances along with your CPP, OAS and spending needs, and it projects your retirement income, taxes and estate year by year, then compares different ways of drawing down your savings. It handles individuals and couples in any province or territory.

There is nothing to install and no account to create. Your numbers are calculated in your own browser and are not sent to a server; you can save your plan to a file and reload it later.

What you can model

Which planner should I use?

Personal / Couple Plan

For individuals and couples who hold their savings personally: RRSP, TFSA and non-registered accounts, CPP, OAS and pensions. It also includes GIS (Guaranteed Income Supplement) estimation for lower-income retirees.

Personal / Couple + Holding Company

For business owners who keep passive investments inside a Canadian holding company. It adds the corporation to the same plan: eligible and non-eligible dividends, the capital dividend account, GRIP and RDTOH balances, corporate-level tax, an optional corporate melt-down, and withdrawal orders that combine corporate and personal accounts. It assumes a single owner and a passive investment holdco, and it does not model an active business or corporate wind-up tax.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free?

Yes. There are no fees, no sign-up and no ads in the planner itself.

Is my financial information saved or shared?

No. Calculations happen in your browser. Nothing you enter is uploaded to a server. If you want to keep a plan, use the save button to download it to your own device.

Which tax rules does it use?

It uses federal and provincial or territorial income tax brackets, the dividend and capital-gains rules, and the current CPP, OAS and RRIF parameters. Tax law and benefit amounts change every year, so check the assumptions inside the planner and adjust them if needed.

How accurate are the results?

They are projections, not predictions. Results depend on your assumed returns, inflation and spending, which are unknowable. Use the Monte Carlo and what-if tools to see a range of outcomes rather than a single number.

Can it replace a financial planner or accountant?

No. It is a planning aid for exploring options and understanding trade-offs. It is especially worth reviewing corporate and estate results with a qualified professional.
